ANNUAL GRANT FOR UNDERGRADUATE SCOLARSHIPS

LONG-TERM HUMANITARIAN PROJECT OF THE ROTARY CLUB ZAGREB KAPTOL

Since its beginning the Annual Grant for Undergraduate Scholarships, one of the most successful and long-lasting humanitarian projects in Croatia that translates into English as Step into life (Korak u život), presents a chance for young adults without appropriate parental care to complete their tertiary education. It was initiated in 2008 by professor Josip Paladino, MD. The training of eight service dogs for blind and visually impaired persons was a short-term project that preceded the Annual Grant for Scholarships.

The project, which embodies the nature and foundation of Rotarian principles, promotes some of the highest social values - culture, education and social sensitivity. The importance of the project has also been recognized and supported by Croatian citizens, members of the business community and media, as well as by many established and influential members of Croatia’s public life who have been dedicating their time and effort time and time again to pursue this humanitarian goal.

Through the annual grant for scholarship we award the amount of HRK 1,600 each year for a period of five academic years. To secure the annual grant the grant recipient must meet a specific condition: enrolled student status by completing academic year sign-in. The application deadline is 1 November. The decision to award grants rests on the Club Directors within the period of 15 days after the closing date.
